Damnation is a close-up Bizarre Magick effect which is easy to do, has a macabre story line and has an unexpected climax.  It is also very quick to reset.  I got the idea for this from an effect called ‘Auto Suggestion’ by Bob Ostin.

This is a tale of a young traveller in a gloomy mid European country.  The youth is short of money and needs a bed for the night and some food.  He sits alone beside a lonely road when a stranger, an old man approaches. The old man offers him a chance to gamble for his night’s meal and a place to sleep.  The young man agrees but it turns out that his own soul is a stake.

Two piles of Tarot cards are mixed at random, the young traveller thinks he has won the bet, but unexpectedly The Devil wins…
